Introduction :

Now-a-days compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) are becoming very popular as they consume very little power but provide much higher brightness than the ordinary bulbs. 11-watt CFL is equivalent to 75-watt bulb in terms of light output. The circuit presented here is capable of lighting up a 9 to 11-watt CFL. The circuit is automatically switched on when the AC mains supply fails. Dynatek make 11 watt Emergency Light circuit is very compact, efficient operating on very low voltage. It operates on 4 x 4 Ahr NICD ( 4.8 VDC) / Lead acid 6V,4 Ahr for 2.5 Hrs continuous after mains fail. NICD battery charges through constant current source. Microcontroller based Real time clock is provided to "Switch On / Off" emergency light at set time only, this feature avoids battery discharge during unwanted time when mains fail. It's rugged design and high reliability makes it particularly suitable for industrial applications.
